The Peace Park and Garden is an active park space committed to community resilience through collective art and urbanag projects.

Letter from the Garden,

Peace! So honored that you stopped by, as we kick off the 2023 growing season we want everyone to know how grateful we are for all the love and support The Peace Park and Garden has received since we started in 2014! We are committed to sharing that love and support with youth and families in our community.

Our task list this year is long and our wish list is even longer but the growing season always seems so short....We have lots of upcoming upgrades to our sites & announcements of events that'll be shared regularly mostly on our FB group.

facebook.com/thepeaceparkandgarden

We want to document this season in a special way....This is history in the making.

We are not a 501c3 non profit and we have no huge sponsor. Our results have come from amazing partners and volunteers with a strong dedication to help heal our community....

And we have also hosted events, entered contests and earned love offerings to get our supplies and basic needs.

If you would like to invest in our efforts by donating any financial resources to help us keep growing...It's simple! No amount is too big or too small!

ART N' SOIL
SERVICES & CONSULTING

Since 2014 when The Peace Park & Garden was installed people have been contacting us and visiting the site asking how we could help them design or establish a community garden, how to engage youth and residents and also where to start with beautification for vacant lots , home properties and even community green spaces.

We have since held 'how to' workshops, presentations and now we even offer our labor/landscaping, art installations and gardening services as well as consulting for Youth Garden Engagment or Creative Urban Ag related projects of any size.

Please contact us for details and services!

We are growing flowers, vegetables, herbs, fruits and composting onsite to promote healthy living and educate young people in particular about the importance of knowing how to grow good food and take care of the Earth, starting in our back yards, or vacant corner lot.
PROMOTING HEALTHY LIVING EVERYWHERE

In the middle of a 'Food Desert' pops up a small little spark and it's called the Peace Park & Garden. We are growing flowers, vegetables, herbs, fruit trees and composting onsite to promote healthy living and educate young people in particular about the importance of knowing how to grow good food and take care of the Earth, starting in our back yards, or vacant corner lot....

Mental and physical well being is a very important issue in every community. Having safe places where people can chillout and socialize or bring the whole family to exercise is a vital part of a healthy lifestyle. We give away most of the produce grown in The Peace Park & Garden to area residents & that's the best promotion possible!

This is a great space to write long text about your company and your services. You can use this space to go into a little more detail about your company. Talk about your team and what services you provide. Tell your visitors the story of how you came up with the idea for your business and what makes you different from your competitors

INNOVATION

There are ancient ways to do things that are brand new to us today. Our open source destinations are more than pocket parks. We are developing spaces where new ideas are exploding and people are pushing the possibilities. Not just in the garden but all year around - We are exploring new ways to share, teach and learn about our neighborhood and envoirmental eco-systems. This includes our drinking and swimming waters, our diets and eating habits, our overall safety and our collective solutions.

We invite and encourage community and creative groups to use our sites for meetings, gatherings, demonstrations and any family friendly public action. There are so many people with exciting movement happening in Milwaukee, let's build together!

The power and innovation we need is within our united neighborhoods.

BRIDGING THE GAPS

People from all backgrounds and generations have supported and donated their time and efforts making the Peace Park and Garden possible. Our fun activities and projects have connected so many ideas and people. The garden is a magical place for breaking down barriers and new productive interactions!

Think: cross-fertilization.

We are also connecting ART & AGRICULTURE in a major way. Bridging the gap between artistic creatives and urban ag enthusiasts is very important to us and we have inspired so many to incorporate bold, colorful art into their community gardens. Creative sustainability education in action.

Watch and see what we do next...

ARTS IN THE GARDEN

Repurposed materials and community created artwork is what you will see at The Peace Park & Garden. You can't miss the 4D Grafitti mural, hand painted signage and brightly decorated raised garden beds. At our all new MLK Peace Place you will even see two very large art murals. We are here to evolve the way 'urban ag' is approached.

Professional local artists have done free workshops with children on site and we are alway open for creative activites and ideas. We do also accept in-kind craft and paint supply donations to facilitate art activities.  (Drop drop off "stuff" at park without permission)

If you would like to share a project idea or add on to our art outreach - let's work!

FITNESS & ACTIVITY

We are looking for more instructors to hold outdoor classes at The Peace Park & Garden in the 2023 season! After seeing and experiencing our beautiful Yoga classes, people have also requested Tai Chi and Self Defense Training classes.

How about some Line-Dancing or Drumming circles? Any other suggestions?

All of our activities are free and family friendly , participants must bring their own mats , water, etc..

2023 Spring/Summer schedule coming soon!

NEW FOOD

The youth we work with are excited about growing plenty of good food for learning purposes and soon scaling up with new locations, collaborations.

The Peace Park & Garden is also currently in early stages of helping our community partners GroundWork Milwaukee develop a local "Garden Leader Council" for supporting new garden leaders and fostering more cooperation amongst residents and orgs.

This is a great opportunity to mention that we are always looking for people who would like to grow food on one of our sites! Got a green thumb? Get with us TODAY!

The Peace Park & Garden is an offspring of the Summer of Peace city-wide youth rally.

After 10+ years of coordinating Summer of Peace, our annual youth leadership and community unity event in county and school parks in Milwaukee, WI. We decided to claim our very own space in the name of Peace, Love Unity & having Fun!

Peace learning and information exchange happens every day at our sites through conversations about justice, art, media, plants, food, world politics, local happenings, technology & almost anything else you can imagine. Youth and adults learn conflict resolution, problem-solving, coping and team-building skills while working in the garden.

We have many opportunities for volunteer groups or individuals.

Please contact us if you are interested!

AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION

Youth volunteers and participants get familiar with many aspects of urban farming and community building through guided activities such as seed planting, organic composting, landscaping projects, tree planting, rain water harvesting, community clean ups and even food preparation.

Identifying edible plants, medicinal herbs and good soil vs bad dirt should be something every 8 year old should be able to do. We're working on it...

We need your help! Join us!
